There is a very short video interview about people who are multi-racial, talking about their experiences, and since we talked about this a bit in class while ago, I thought I'd post the link here.

I really enjoyed that video! Not only do I feel like it relates to what we have discussed in class, but it definitely fits into what is going on in the world today. I feel that it is important to recognize that not everything is one way or the other. I have family that is multi-racial and I know they love the experience of being so comfortable and familiar with more than just one culture. It sets them apart from the rest.
I like the point that was brought up in the video about the categorization of mixed individuals. I think this relates a lot to the topic of intersex children and how people feel that they have to be one sex or the other in order to fit into society. When we don't have a category to place something in, it's like we go haywire. It's important to accept someone of a mixed race as who they are and not look for a category to place their skin tone under.
I agree with nrnaik's post about how the video relates to our discussion about intersex children. We are so used to putting people in categories that we fail to realize that putting people into categories is sometimes very offensive. America is a melting pot and there are many people that are here who are multiracial. I noticed that lately there has been an option on some applications or surveys that have a section that multiracial people can choose. That is a refreshing thing to know since many times people have had to choose a certain race to identify with.
