Season for Giving!
I found this political gift online earlier today. I still haven't quite formulated my opinion about it, but I can say that it is different...
Thanks for posting this link! I haven't had a lot of time to formulate an opinion either, but my initial impression is not good. Like we talked about in class, Hillary's strong-willed personality is often characterized as "bitchiness," her opinionated nature as "maneating." No, she is not the first female candidate for president, but I agree with Saranya's statement in class that many criticisms of her directly involve the fact that she is a woman. Look at the caricatures of Bush in comparison: Bush is castigated for his lack of intelligence, while the Hillary Nutcracker merely draws attention to her "stainless steel thighs." If I have to hear the "period" argument (and you all know what I'm talking about) against a female presidential candidate one more time, I may scream in frustration. I'm not against criticism of Hillary's political platform and voting record. What I am against is criticisms about her marriage, necklaces, and hairdo. Sorry to be so dramatic, but this issue has irked me for quite some time.
